Dirkshof builds 67,5 MW wind farm in Estonia
Over the years, the Dirkshof has contributed its expertise in the field of wind energy beyond the borders of northern Germany to other European countries. Due to the good networking in the global economy, another large-scale project was starting in Estonia.
15 Vestas V150 - 4.5 MW will be erected from the 3rd quarter of 2023 onwards
The Aidu project in the northeast of Estonia - in Ida-Viru County - represents a challenge both logistically and in terms of time. The plan to install the first of the 15 Vestas V150 4.5 MW turbines at a hub height of 105 m as early as the third quarter of 2023 was met very well thanks to the professional Vestas team.
Beginning of 2024: all 15 turbines are erected after a cold break lasting several weeks. This was because it was not possible to work on the turbines in winter temperatures of more than minus 20 degrees. All turbines will be connected to the grid by the end of February 2024. The wind farm has a total output of 67,5 MW.
Turnkey project handed over to operator AWP
Dirkshof Estonia OÜ was able to construct and commission the Aidu wind farm in Estonia on a turnkey basis within just one year. The wind farm comprises 15 Vestas V150 wind turbines, each with a rated output of 4.5 MW, and a transformer station. Construction was carried out in cooperation with local and international partners under the management of Dirkshof Estonia OÜ. The project was financed in equal parts by NordLB and Swedbank.
The wind farm has been fully operational since March 2024 and is now officially handed over to the operating company Aidu Windpark (AWP).
The Aidu wind farm is expected to generate an annual yield of 12 million kilowatt hours per turbine, which means a total saving of 135,000 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Around 40,000 households will be supplied with electricity.
