Wind energy
For a clean, sustainable future.
In Schleswig-Holstein, a county in Northern Germany, about 40% of the energy consumed is provided by the wind. Positioned between the North and Baltic Sea, Schleswig-Holstein is ideal for renewable energy production. Community energy projects are uniquely placed to manage this opportunity: Over 90% of wind energy parks belong to community energy projects. This benefits local residents who are not only supplied with clean energy but also receive the monetary gains usually awarded to big investors, energy companies and project managers.
In 1989, when Dirkshof set up its first wind energy plant behind its farm, it was very much a pioneering task. Today community energy projects are well known and are in growing demand.
